Financial Goals Tracker and Fund Comparator

What we built

An educational personal-finance product covering savings goals, a contribution log, a fund comparator built on real cost and risk data, a savings simulator and a risk-profile questionnaire, with strict per-user data isolation throughout.

Core features

• Financial profile in the user's own currency (country, base currency, income, usual savings)
• Savings goals with horizon and risk profile, and a contribution log that drives progress over time
• Fund comparator: 20 real index funds and ETFs, filtered by currency and risk, sorted by real cost (TER) or return, with a detail panel per fund
• Savings simulator with all assumptions visible and editable
• Risk-profile questionnaire that pre-selects the comparator filter
• Strict per-user data isolation: no user can read or edit another user's data (tested)

Scope boundaries

• No investment recommendations of any kind — a deliberate regulatory line, not an omission
• No bank connection: users enter data by hand, on purpose
• PDF export and email alerts deferred to a second sprint

Outcome

• 48 hours from blueprint to verified production, then a same-day feedback round with fixes shipped and re-verified
• Fund data from two independent providers, so the product does not depend on a single API
• Security gate green: secret scanning, static analysis, dependency audit, and 9/9 data-isolation tests
• 9/9 acceptance criteria verified by automated tests driving the real interface
• Load-tested from 50 to 1,000 concurrent users
• Runs entirely in the client's own Google Cloud project, fully transferable
